Regina Margarita: Simple, charming and elegant dishes

Regina Margerita is one of those fine dining Italian restaurants that lots of the Colombians know about but those outside of the area are not familiar with. It is one of the top Italian restaurants in Colombo. The charming setting of the restaurant adds to the authenticity of the Italian food served. Mouth watering plates from Pastas to Pizzas, steaks, and the desserts are prepared with great care by an Italian chef in place. The open kitchen area of the restaurant gives the clients the real feel of being in a Pizzeria in Europe.

The ambiance is live and energetic while the food is out of this world. The Pizzas are the main attraction of this restaurant for they are not only exciting and delicious; they are also cooked in an open space. Delicacies like Parma ham and the paper-thin bresaola beef (served with rucola leaves) are far from common and are the most liked by the patroners of this place.

Handmade pasta being made in-house and speciality meats, cheeses, wines combined with other ingredients are imported especially for the restaurant. The menu which features the likes of Italian Antipasto, veal tenderloin, and fresh seafood also has a range of pizza. The handmade pasta is accompanied by a range of sauces including quarto al formaggi – or four cheese sauce.

Sasha and I, we go there 3 or 4 times per month and this is one of the restaurants in Colombo which maintains consistency in the quality of the food। So if you are up for a truly Italian dining experience, the best place to go………॥ Regina Margarita.

Undoubtedly this is my favourite Italian restaurant, the its a bit tricky to park but the restaurant is conveniently located in Park road, we had the chance to visit the place two days after the opening and around 3 time each months for the last 9 months. I should confess the food quality and the warm environment have continued to amaze me. In particular i really like the house wine (rosé) the staff and particularly Barbra (even though some time she speak to much)

The food .............it’s just fabulous I would recommend the beef dishes, pizzas and homemade pasta dishes........... basically everything in the menu and not forgetting the dessert Tiramisu which is my favourite.

The drawback i see in this restaurant is even though the setting is charming one cannot have a quite romantic dinner here especially with crowed and the noise of people enjoying their meals, it’s more of a family and group restaurant than a romantic dining location.

The restaurant has started delivery services hence its worthwhile to order food if you are too lazy to go out. And I hear they are going to branch out especially with the pizza closer to the town hall in the near future which is good news to all you working in the city centre.

Overall Regina is my favourite restaurant in Colombo.........please do share your opinion with us

Jack tree – Elegance, charm and mouth watering dishes

Regrettably, I have been behind on keeping up with the restaurant blog: work (and more work) has kept me too busy. That aside, let me say a few words about what I regard as the best Thai restaurant in Colombo. Folks who have spent words here know this is a claim that one should not make lightly: Colombo has quite a number of Thai restaurants but this place serves simply the best food.

Jack tree is special. I have been there several times and it remains a personal favorite. I had occasion to dine few weeks before and I should confess that the meal was no disappointment. Neither my husband nor I cracked the menu: the specials captured us. I started the meal with a Tom Yum Soup, wow it was great…. Then, the selection of the main meal, I selected steamed white rice, chicken stir fired with sliced ginger, a mutton green curry and a stir fried combination of vegetables, mostly greens.

My only complaint is that there was too much food। My fault for ordering a lot and not being able to eat everything put in front of me, though I fear that leftovers were not just left on the table, Sasha did the justice to the plates. This was a wonderful homecoming after several weeks out of Colombo. If this meal description resonated with you, go there. You won't be disappointed.

I agree it was Luvini’s fault that we could not update the blog owing to her extensive travelling and holidaying............

The restaurant is new and is managed by the mango tree group, and is conveniently located in park road opposite the supermarket. The restaurant is a welcome addition to the local food landscape. However I’m no over excited about the place or the food as Luvini is. Depending on the day parking can be of a bit of a problem however valet parking is provided by the restaurant. The decor is quite modern and inviting. The meats, rice and noodles even the vegetarian (tofu) dishes are quite good, overall i would give 3 points out of 5(being the best) for food. The portions are quite big are is value for money, what I recommend is that you go with few friends in order to experiment and try out few dishes to get an overall Thai experience

The major drawback I see in this restaurant is the non availability of alcohol and if you want to have a quiet evening at dinner that is won’t not be the best, the common eating area can be quite full and noisy most of the time.

Anyways the restaurant is must visit place if you are a fan of Thai, if you do visit please share your views with us।
